Upper Back (Bra Roll) Lift

An upper back lift, also known as a “bra roll lift,” removes extra skin and subcutaneous, fatty tissue from the sides of the chest, under the armpits, and upper back. Doing so not only tightens the skin of the upper back and sides of the chest, but also smooths any extra skin “rolls” that may accumulate around the hips and lower back, thus restoring youthful, sculpted contours.

Am I A Good Upper Back Lift Candidate?

Ideal upper back lift candidates often demonstrate some, or all the following features:

  • Excess tissue on the sides of the chest or under the arm pit that may “spill out” when wearing warm clothing (tank tops), often causing self-consciousness
  • Skin “rolls” along the sides of the hips and / or lower back
  • Skin irritation along the bra line as it extends under the armpits in females

Upper Back Lift FAQs

Where are the scars for an upper back lift?

A. Scars for an upper back lift are the same for males and females, and typically extend around the sides of the chest until they meet along the spine. In females, this scar is typically concealed by the bra.

Will I get liposuction at the time of my upper back lift?

A. Maybe. An upper back lift must be individualized to each patient. During your consultation, Dr. Gougoutas will determine if liposuction at the time of your upper back lift is indicated

Is an upper back lift performed by itself or as part of another surgery?

A. Though it can be performed as a stand-alone procedure, an upper back lift is often performed as an extension of an anterior (front) body contouring procedure(s). In females, it is often performed at the same time as a breast lift and / or reduction or even as an extension of a reverse tummy tuck. In males, it may be performed as part of gynecomastia surgery or as part of a larger body contouring procedure.
